The Race Around partners with Ocean Bottle to tackle plastic pollution and drive towards circularity

This #WorldRefillDay, The Race Around is proud and excited to announce our partnership with Ocean Bottle as part of our drive towards real circularity across the marine industry and beyond.

Every single day over 22 million kilograms of plastic enter our oceans with up to 80% of this coming from a lack of waste management infrastructure in coastal communities around the world. That’s one truckload every minute!*

“Ocean Bottle is excited to work with The Race Around, as one of the leading instigators of real, data driven sustainability within Ocean Racing and the wider marine industry. By working with The Race Around’s team over the next few years we will widen the reach of our Ocean Plastic Collection solutions whilst championing plastic positivity within the global sports event space.”
– Will Pearson, Co-Founder and CEO at Ocean Bottle.

Throughout the partnership, Ocean Bottle will be developing co-branded reusable bottles for The Race Around, made from recycled ocean plastics and stainless steel, due to be sold through digital and online channels, as well as work with The Race Around’s Futures Program in the further research and education of the impact of plastics in our oceans.

“For us, partnering with Ocean Bottle makes complete sense. The Race Around’s core focus is on real sustainability and proving that circularity is an effective model for all walks of life. As part of this, we’re going further than ever before by integrating our innovative ‘Futures Program’ within all that we do. This partnership will allow us to lead the charge on creating a ‘plastic positive’ race and a race that removes more than it produces. We’re delighted to be working alongside Ocean Bottle, as our two organisations work to showcase the importance and impact of a truly sustainable economy and healthy oceans.”
– Sam Holliday, Managing Director at The Race Around
